Types of DTH Drilling Machinery
Down – 这 – hole DTH drilling rigs are another important type. DTH drilling is performed by a mini jack hammer screwed on the bottom of the rig. The fast hammer action of the DTH drilling rig machine breaks hard rock into small pieces and dust, which are then blown clear by the air exhaust from the DTH hammer. This method is one of the fastest ways to drill hard rock. Smaller portable DTH drilling rigs have become more efficient, and they can drill as fast as much larger truck – mounted rigs. DTH drilling was originally developed to drill large – diameter holes downwards in the surface, but it also found applications underground where the drilling direction is often upwards.
Auger drills are relatively simple in design. They are often used for drilling in soft soil or for small – scale projects. Hand – operated earth augers, similar to carpentry augers, are suitable for drilling holes in soft earth. Larger mechanical auger drills can be used in construction for tasks like creating holes for piling. They work by rotating a spiral – shaped bit that cuts into the soil and lifts the excavated material out of the hole.
另外, there are percussion drilling machines. These machines use a hammering action to break the rock. They are useful for drilling in hard and brittle rock formations. Some percussion drills can be adjusted to control the force and frequency of the hammering, allowing for more precise drilling in different geological conditions.
