Judging Rock Hardness via Slag from Water Well Drilling Rig

Water well drilling rigs can judge rock hardness by slag conditions during drilling.

 

  1. In loose sediments (f<2), slag is muddy clay, pasty with high water content. The rig has low torque and weak drilling resistance here.
  2. Angular gravels in slag, with growing sizes, mean entering gravel layers (f=3-5). Such layers make the water well drilling rig vibrate more; circulation fluid returns much slower. Sudden large white quartz grains and sharply reduced slag indicate siliceous cemented layers (f>8).
  3. A water well drilling rig’s lifting force also reflects hardness. In soft rock, hoist current stays around 30A when lifting tools. In hard rock, it surges over 50A, with obvious jolts. Replace wear-resistant teeth and adjust flushing fluid concentration timely.水井鑽機
