The Threat and Prevention of Coal Seam Gas to the Operation of Water Well Drilling RIGS

Gas in coal seams poses a major safety hazard for water well drilling rig operations.

  1. During drilling, bit crushing of coal seams releases arge amounts of gas. Poor ventilation can cause gas accumulation to reach explosive concentrations, triggering explosions upon contact with open flames or sparks.
  2. High gas pressure may also lead to borehole blowouts and stuck drills, damaging rig equipment.

To prevent gas threats:
3. Measure gas content and pressure before operation, and adopt gas drainage to reduce coal seam gas pressure.
4. Equip gas monitoring devices during construction to track gas concentration in real time. Stop operation and ventilate immediately if exceeding limits.
5. Use explosion-proof rig equipment, ban open flames on site, and standardize electrical equipment operations strictly to ensure safety in gas environments.water well drilling rig
