Air Pressure Adjustment for DTH Hammers in Water Well Drilling Rigs

Air pressure controls DTH hammer performance in water well drilling rig. Adjust it this way:

  1. Soft rock formations: Set to 0.6-0.8MPa. Lower impact force to avoid excess bit wear and large well diameters.
  2. Medium-hard rock formations: Use 0.9-1.2MPa. Balance impact and rotation to ensure drilling speed.
  3. Hard rock formations: Apply 1.3-1.8MPa. Maximize impact energy; pair with high-torque rotation to break hard rock.

Adjust pressure slowly. Watch drilling speed and cuttings discharge to find the best pressure. A jobsite adjusted pressure from 1.0MPa to 1.2MPa in limestone, boosting the water well drilling rig speed by 20%.
