To optimize mud performance, improve mud viscosity and water loss control. Add water loss reducers like CMC to bentonite mud to reduce mud infiltration into strata. Use PAM to enhance mud suspension, preventing cuttings from settling easily.

  1. Adjust mud specific gravity based on gravel particle gradation. For coarse gravel, increase specific gravity to 1.2–1.3g/cm³ to strengthen hole wall support.
  2. Regularly test mud performance indicators and timely supplement/adjust additives.
