Corrosion and protection of water well Drilling Rig tools by salt layers

Hey folks, brine from salt layer dissolution has lots of corrosive chlorides, severely corroding water well drilling rig tools.

  1. Drill pipes and bits in brine suffer electrochemical corrosion, forming rust spots and holes, which weakens tools and shortens their life.

To prevent corrosion:
2. Use special anti-corrosion materials for tools, like chrome-plated drill pipes and stainless-steel bits. These form a protective film to isolate metal from brine.
3. Inject anti-corrosion mud into the borehole during drilling to neutralize brine’s corrosion and lubricate tools.
4. Regularly inspect and maintain tools, replacing damaged parts promptly—another effective protection measure.water well drilling rig
