Drilling Tips for Water Well Drilling Rig in Different Rock Hardness

Water well drilling rigs need varied techniques for rocks of different hardness.water well drilling rig

  1. In clay layers (f<2), use auger drilling. Keep speed at 200r/min; increase mud flow. Mud buoyancy carries cuttings to prevent hole collapse.
  2. For limestone (f=5-7), switch to roller cone drilling. Bits roll and crush rock. Lower speed to 8-10m/h; check cone wear hourly. Replace broken teeth promptly. If caves exist, reduce bit pressure and use casing following.
  3. For granite (f>8), use impact-rotary drilling. High-frequency impacts (800-1000 times/min) plus low rotation (50-80r/min) crush rock. A water well drilling rig should lift bits every 3 meters to check. Ensure drill pipe connections are tight to avoid tool breakage from excess torque.
