Design Features of Cooling Systems in Portable Water Well Drilling Rig

A portable water well drilling rig (depth <100m) focuses on lightness and flexibility. Its cooling system differs from large rigs, balancing weight, efficiency and cost.

  1. Lightweight cooling components: Use small radiators (0.5-1㎡) and micro fans, total weight under 10kg. A hand-carry rig’s cooling system weighs 5kg, carried by one person, fitting 5hp engines.
  2. Air-cooled, simple structure: Skip complex water pipes; rely on air cooling—natural wind plus small fans. A portable rig adds fins to the engine block, with a 12V fan. Less efficient than water cooling but simpler, fewer faults.
  3. Fit for intermittent work and low cost: Portable rigs work 1-2 hours at a time. Cooling systems need no long full load, cutting redundancy. A rig’s fan starts only over 85℃, saving energy. Use common parts (e.g., modified car radiators) to cut costs. A portable water well drilling rig cooling parts cost under 200 yuan each, easy to maintain.

The challenge is basic cooling under weight limits. Future needs lighter materials like carbon fiber radiators.
