DTH hammers used with water well drilling rig often have these faults; fix them quickly.
-
Reduced impact frequency:
Often from low air compressor airflow or leaky pipes.
Check compressor pressure (
≥ rated value)
and pipe joints.
Replace broken seals.
-
Bit not rotating: May stem from issues in the water well drilling rig rotation system or worn spline sleeves. Stop, check transmission parts, replace worn ones.
-
Abnormal noise or vibration: Usually from worn pistons or cylinders. Take the hammer apart, replace overly worn parts.
A jobsite’s hammer made noise.
Taking it apart found severe piston top wear.
Replacing it worked,
preventing worse damage.
